BELIEFS_

The Scriptures + -

We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God and the final authority for all Christian faith and life.

(John 10:35; 17:17; 1 Timothy 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 3:15-16)

The Triune God + -

We believe that the one true God exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these, being one God, are equal in deity, power, and glory.

(Genesis 1:1-2; Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-3)

Jesus Christ + -

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners.  By His death on the cross He satisfied the wrath of God, obtained for us eternal redemption, the forgiveness of sins, spiritual adoption as sons and daughters, and life everlasting.  He was raised bodily on the third day and ascended to the right hand of the Father, there to make intercession for the saints.

(Isaiah 53:1-12; Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1-18; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:1-28; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:10-14; Ephesians 1:7; Philippians 2:6-11; Colossians 1:15-23; Hebrews 7:25; 9:13-15; 1 Peter 2:21-25; 1 John 2:1-2)

The Holy Spirit + -

We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God, coequal with the Father and Son. The Holy Spirit testifies about Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit convicts unbelievers of their need for Christ and imparts spiritual life through regeneration.  The Spirit indwells, sanctifies, leads, illumines, and graciously empowers for godly living and service all who come to faith in Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit, in whom also we are sealed for the day of redemption.

(Matthew 3:11; John 1:12-13; 3:1-15; 15:26-27; 16:7-15; Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Ephesians 1:13-14)

Humanity and Sin + -

We believe that God created humanity in His image, and that Adam, the first human, was created good and without sin.  Through Adam’s disobedience, sin entered the world, bringing separation from God, corruption, and death.  As a result, all people are born into a fallen world, and influenced by this condition, each person sins and falls short of God’s glory.  Every human being is therefore in need of God’s grace and redemption, which God alone provides through Jesus Christ.

(Genesis 1:26-27, 31; 2:16-17; 3:1-19; Isaiah 59:2; John 3:16-18; 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 5:12, 18-19; 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-9; 1 John 1:8)

Salvation + -

We believe that salvation is the gracious work of God, accomplished in Jesus Christ, and applied by the Holy Spirit.  We are justified by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, and not by any ordinance, ritual, work, or human effort.  This saving grace also results in a transformed life, as the Holy Spirit sanctifies believers and enables them to live in ways pleasing to God.

(Romans 3:24-28; 5:8-10; 6:4-6; 1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21; Galatians 2:16; 5:16-25; 6:1-2; Ephesians 1:3-7; 2:8-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 3:4-6; Revelation 13:8)

Second Coming + -

We believe in the future bodily return of the Lord Jesus, commonly called the Second Coming of Christ.  This will occur at a date undisclosed by the Scriptures.

(Matthew 24:30, 36-39, 42; Matthew 26:63-64; John 14:2-3; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Hebrews 9:28; Revelation 1:7)

Eternity + -

We believe in the resurrection of the dead and that all people will stand before Christ in the final judgment.  Those who have trusted in Him will be raised to eternal life, enjoying the presence of God forever in a renewed creation.  Those who have rejected God will face just condemnation, separated from Him for eternity.

(Psalm 16:11; Matthew 25:31-46; John 3:16, 36; 11:25-26; Acts 24:15;  Romans 8:18-23; 14:10-12; 1 Corinthians 15:20-24, 35-58; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10; 2 Peter 3:9-13; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:1-4; 22:3-5)

Word AND Spirit

We are a continuationist church committed to the convergence of Word and Spirit.  We highly value both doctrinal precision AND the power of the Holy Spirit.  Thus, we both teach the full council of Scripture and endeavor to practice the full range of spiritual gifts seen in Scripture.  We allow space for the proper and orderly expression of spiritual gifts for the glory of God and the building up of others.

We are an autonomous, non-denominational church affiliated with the Convergence Church Network.
